Show what the business actually earns
Distinguish payment volume, assets serviced or transaction value from company revenue. Explain fees, net revenue, gross margin and customer acquisition cost. Show retention by customer cohort where available and identify dependence on a small number of partners or customers.
Make operational dependencies visible
Describe the company’s role and any banking, payment or infrastructure partners it relies on. Explain where the product operates, the status of relevant permissions and how customer data is protected. Clearly distinguish services you provide from services delivered by a partner.
Explain expansion one market at a time
MENA is not a single operating market. Present your existing results separately from country-by-country expansion plans. Include localisation, partner onboarding, compliance resources and customer acquisition assumptions in your capital request. Explain which milestone the next funding round is meant to achieve.
From payment volume to business economics
Illustrative monthly payment-platform example
This is a hypothetical management model, not Cubin portfolio data or a revenue-recognition policy. Actual presentation depends on the company’s contracts and accounting treatment. Reconcile the model to reported revenue; identify refunds, incentives, losses and other costs omitted from the simplified example. State who holds customer funds and whether any balances are restricted rather than available to finance company operations.
Make each market’s dependency explicit
For every country, record the service provider, partner, current permission or testing status, evidence date and unresolved dependency. A test environment and an unrestricted operating permission should not be presented as interchangeable. The DFSA describes its Innovation Testing Licence programme; this is a DIFC-specific reference, not a licence route for all MENA fintechs.
For Saudi expansion, prepare the Saudi operating or launch case.
For UAE operations, document the UAE operating entity.
Next, translate market budgets into a funding gap.
Questions before submitting your company
Is transaction volume the same as revenue?
No. A platform may process or facilitate a large value while earning a smaller fee. Present volume, the applicable fee basis, gross revenue and deductions separately, using consistent definitions across the deck and financial model.
What should accompany a regional growth forecast?
Include a market-by-market operating plan, partner dependencies and a cash budget. Explain whether the model is already functioning in each country or whether entry depends on future work. Regional totals alone hide these differences.
How Cubin considers an opportunity
Cubin invests its own capital and works with an international network of private investors, family offices and investment firms. Our investment focus is USD 1–30 million, from angel and early-stage opportunities through growth and private equity. We assess business quality, financial performance, growth, valuation and risk. Direct investment and investor introductions are different outcomes; neither is guaranteed by submitting a pitch.
What to include in your pitch
Send a short company overview, location, sector, stage, amount sought and intended use of funds. Include revenue or traction where available, ownership information and the next milestone. Attach a non-confidential PDF pitch deck, up to 3 MB. The form is in English and does not require a member account. Your submission is sent to Cubin with the guide page you came from. Do not include sensitive customer data in your initial submission.
